Ohio - An Engineer’s Viewpoint
Hello all! You may be wondering why we haven’t updated the blog in so many days…well, we’re just quite busy with all this travel stuff. It’s only been three full days as of noon today!
So what have we been up to? I’ll give you a list since below you can see beautiful prose.
1. We’ve been listening to an audio CD version of Jack Kerouac’s on the road. We have learned little except that the prettiest girls in the US are in Des Moines. Jeff and I strongly disagree with this statement, as we believe the prettiest girls are in Pennsylvania.
2. Jeff has been struggling with the GPS. This love-hate relationship is teaching him great things about technology…
3. Speaking of which, we have been discussing whether the new technology is really better, or more useful. It’s been a bit of a back and forth – history major versus engineer. I think we have come to a healthy medium somewhere in the middle, with both technologies having their conveniences. I think we’ll be navigating our way by map to Chicago…
4. We went to church today. Lots to think about, lots to say!
5. We have been hosted by two families – both wonderfully hospitable, and I cannot thank them enough for their incredible hospitality. Thank you to the Bryants and Walters, you have truly made the beginning of our trip enjoyable and special.
6. Speaking of hospitality, I have been learning that a road trip is not a vacation. In fact, it is more of an adventure centered on meeting new people, learning new things and seeing the vastness of this country – and we haven’t even arrived at the big stuff yet.
7. We had a great breakfast at a church on Saturday in Townville, PA. I’m not sure which church it was…but they certainly knew how to make breakfast. They also had pretty cool outfits and a makeshift Jerusalem for their vacation Bible school.
8. We’ve been discussing the aspects of community and individualism. No real conclusions from my side.
I could write more, but I’m sure you’d rather see some pictures, so I’ll go work on some of those instead. I’m more than happy to discuss things in more detail…just leave a comment and tell us what you want to hear.
