On the Road, to Chicago

So we’ve hit our first “roadblock”: Traffic. Averaging thirteen and a half miles per hour over the past sixty-five minutes, we’ve been driven to insanity, which has led has to sing along with Jr. Asparagus—”God’s way is the best way.” It’s times like these that make me wish we could just ascend into the air and hop onto “God’s Highway.” But here we are.
One could say we’ve been very patriotic today because of all the roadwork equipment. See, we arbitrarily decided that orange is the national color (as opposed to red, white, and blue). And anyway, orange is totally fantastic. …Inching along behind long lines of multi-colored automobiles is not.
In other news, the GPS and I are on speaking terms again. The thing is, she doesn’t know how to listen, and her voice happens to be rather obnoxious. We’re looking into the possibility of altering her voicebox. [insert time spent fiddling with the GPS.] Well, now she speaks French, at least.
We made our second spontaneous road detour this afternoon. The first was on our way to the Bryant’s—dirt roads for twenty minutes or so. Today’s adventure involved a leap into Michigan for some beach fun. South Haven was the name. The no-sodium, no-chlorine water might not be fit for drinking, but it was definitely fit for swimming. Jared, of course, shot a few more spectacular photos. And, well, after that little excursion, we got where we are presently… On The Road, Again.
